In creating the forms and images depicted in my work, I pause just short of the moment of representation, just before names and stories. Basic physical attributes such as shape, texture, color, material and edge are my primary focus during the process of creation. I consciously avoid making something identifiable, allowing intuition to form the relationships, build the structures and choose the materials. These methods and materials are casual and unfussy. My process results in often surprising, playful and contemplative imagery that reflects my experience of a moment just before identity is overlaid upon the world.
